The main shopping street in Bodrum leads straight to the waterfront and the bustling Milta Bodrum Marina which is lined along three sides with an outstanding collection of old and new, pristine and not so pristine, traditional wooden schooners called gulets.
With a lovely promenade the entire length of the Milta Bodrum Marina from the castle to the shipyard, a stroll along the water’s edge brings views of general boat “busyness” – groceries being loaded, decks being scrubbed, captains greeting passengers, sailors whistling at pretty girls, dogs, kids and elderly folk out and about for an afternoon stroll – it all happens here.
The marina promenade is flanked on the other side of the road by restaurants and bars, cafes, lounges, ice cream parlours and shops. At night, the place is positively humming with street-side seating, live music, street performers and pop-up eating spots.
