"We had an unforgettable weekend here: horses, friends and impromptu flamenco in the middle of a field!" - Reviewed by Lisa

Only a stone’s throw from the bustling college town of Salamanca, turn down a few quiet country lanes and prepare to be plunged into the delights of genuine Spanish countryside pursuits. The Spain of today – with its overcrowded costas – is a far cry from the Spain of yesteryear where much of the population lived and worked in the countryside. Today, however, you can still hark back to the tranquility and traditions of 40-50 years ago. With the knowledgeable Alfonso Fabres as your host, you’ll have a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a diversity of country activities whilst staying at his sprawling, peaceful hunting lodge.

MEALS ARE INCLUDED

Breakfast is usually served buffet style and includes cold cuts and cheese as well as all the hot breakfast favourites: a selection of breads, sweet breads, yogurts and cereals. After a day in the great outdoors, you’ll appreciate the hearty Spanish fare offered up by local cooks.

SPANISH PASTORAL PASTIMES EXPERIENCE

Our tailor-made WIXXY experience honours the spirit of Spain’s unique pastoral pastimes. The horse has played a major role – we’ll introduce you to equine activities. The bull is revered, feared and applauded – we’ll visit a bull farm and gain insight into the complexity of the genetics involved in rearing a champion. As for the beloved country sport of hunting – try your hand at shooting clay pigeons. Uncover the mystery and history that shrouds of flamenco – discover the trials and tribulations of the countryman preserved in music, song and passion. The finale of this incredible experience is a synchronized show of horse, bull and flamenco in a privately-owned, centuries-old arena.
