Know Before You Go
The Douro Valley has the Miditerranean weather, hot summers and mild winters. Moreover, it is smart to wear sturdy footwear for the varied terrain. Besides, while Portuguese is the primary language, English is common. Furthermore, the currency is the Euro and credit cards are generally accpeted eveywhere but some restaurants, shops, and activities only accept cash. The transportation options include cars, trains, boats or tours. Additionally, the region is known for the vineyards and the wine. Therefore, we also implemented a wine tour in the itineray. In addition, it is important to keep in mind that dining times tend to be later than in other countries. Lunch is typically served between 12:30PM amd 2:30PM and dinner usually starts around 8:00PM. Lastly, a pre-arrival grocery/pantry stocking service is available. The pantry list form needs to be returned to us four days prior to your arrival.

Day 1: Arrival Day
Arrive at Casa do Rola Pipas and feel immediately at ease as you settle into your luxurious accommodation. After settling in, prepare for an evening of culinary delight. Our expert sommelier will guide you through a wine pairing dinner (provided by a private chef) featuring the finest DOC Douro wines, perfectly complemented by local cuisine.
However, keep in mind that the check-in starts at four o’clock in the afternoon.
Day 2: Vineyards and Villages
Begin your day with breakfast at the villa, followed by an e-bike ride through the vineyards of Quinta da Roeda, starting from Castedo. Then, indulge in a guided winecellar tour and a tantalizing tasting of CROFT Port wines. The adventure continues with visits to Quinta da Marcella and Casal de Loivos, where you will have a private wine tasting. There you may taste sample exclusive DOC Douro wines and savor local delicacies against breathtaking panoramic views. Afterwards, you will have lunch at Quinta da Marcela. It is a hidden gem, lovingly owned by two Brazilian connoisseurs captivated by Douro’s allure. Furthermore, you will continue the E-bike guided tour by visiting Casal de Loivos and an Olive Oil Museum. The day will end around 19PM with your private transfer back to the villa.
Day 3: Cultural Immersion in Guimarães
On day three, the day will start ealier with an eight o’clock breakfast at the villa. Then, you will immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of Guimarães with an e-bike tour through its charming streets. Explore the medieval Castle of Guimarães with exclusive access to Tripwix guests, before savoring a delectable lunch at the Michelin-starred restaurant ‘A Cozinha’. Round off your day with a scenic cable car ride to Penha, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. At 18PM is the return at the villa whereafter yuu will have a dinner at the villa, provided by Rolapipas.
Day 4: Serenity and Sunset
Day four starts with breakfast at the villa, followed by a morning yoga session on the front porch overlooking the Douro River. Afterwards, there will be a light lunch served at the villa. Then, spend the afternoon cruising along the tranquil waters of the Douro on a three hour private boat tour. The tour includes refreshing snacks and signature cocktails. As the sun sets, prepare for a great dining experience at Quinta do Bomfim, where gourmet cuisine meets the finest regional wines. The private transfer back to the villa will be at eleven o’clock in the evening.
Day 5: Quad Adventures and Culinary Delights
At 8:30 breakfast at the villa awaits. Subsequently, start the day with a thrilling quad tour through the rugged terrain of Alijó. As a break, there will be a stop in Alijó to enjoy a traditional lunch at a charming local restaurant. After continuing your trip, take in panoramic views from Miradouro do Ujo before returning to Rolapipas for a relaxing evening. Consequently, your private transfer will take you back to the villa at four o’clock in the afternoon. Again, tonight dinner will be provided by Rolapipas.
Day 6: Off-Road Experience
** This day’s itinerary is only available on Saturdays.
After your nine o’clock breakfast in the moning, you will start your day with an off road tour at ten o’clock. Thus, get off the beaten path with a Jeep Wrangler tour to São Salvador do Mundo, where a picturesque picnic awaits amidst the vineyards. Afterwards, explore the historic village of Provesende before visiting the Piedade Sanctuary in Sanfins do Douro. These villages are steeped in centuries of history and spirituality. You will end the day with dinner at the villa, which will be provided by Rolapipas.
Day 7: Departure
As your journey draws to a close, say farwell to the Douro Valley with a transfer back to the airport. You will have a private transfer of Rolapipas to the airport in 2 Mercedes Vito 9 seats (with driver). Lastly, please, still keep in mind that the check-out is at ten o’clock in the morning.
