Visit Haciendas Tequileras

You’ve come all this way to the home of the legendary spirit, tequila – famed for its powers to make people go crazy, party like rock stars and act inappropriately. Aficionados know it as a superb, finely-constructed spirit which can hold its own – especially when aged – with brandy and Scotch whiskey.

Go directly to the source – the town of Tequila itself. This is a long, but worthwhile, day excursion with the option to spend a night in the area in five-star accommodations.

Tequila is made from 100% blue agave plants and your magnificent drive will take you through the jungle, over mountain tops, past volcanic lava fields and acres of dusky blue agave cacti.

Take a private plane to Guadalajara’s private airport. Enjoy a hearty breakfast at a traditional restaurant in the artistic town of Tlaquepaque (20 min from the airport). The group will then head for the most rustic hacienda tequilera: Hacienda Fortaleza, for a 1-hour tour followed by a visit to the beautiful Hacienda Cuervo for a 3-hour experience including tour, tasting and a 3-course meal with tequila pairing.

The perfect ending for this deep dive into tequila culture will be a 1-hour visit to historic Hacienda Herradura in the neighboring town of Amatitán. Snacks will be available on the way back to the airport.
