A palace by the beach could be one way of describing this unique beachfront rental in the Algarve that consists of two charming buildings. The main house was built at the turn of the century as a romantic seaside retreat for an aristocratic Portuguese family and has remained as a summer home close to 80 years. Today, you can experience a slice of history all to yourselves with your nearest and dearest in what has become an iconic landmark on the Armação de Pêra coastline.
The historical property is full of character and is adorned with an inspiring collection of unique art pieces. Recent renovations have respected many of the original design elements including wooden floors, heirloom chandeliers and a stunning staircase, while a nod to the home’s rich cultural history can be seen in the Moorish influences and geometric designs on the ceilings and shutters.
While sleeping arrangements are divided across two separate buildings, you will find most of your living and loving take place in the original building with its expansive beachfront terrace. There is even a “secret” rooftop patio that was commissioned by the original owner so the family could listen to the townsfolk singing from the local church while enjoying spectacular views.

The main house with two bedrooms merges the magic of past and present with special focus on comfort. A large, open-plan kitchen leads to the living and dining area with its huge sea-view terracotta terrace that is a fabulous option for an intimate wedding or event (€). Look up and you will notice the ceiling plays homage to the grape vines that once blossomed outside the Algarve villa with intricate carvings.
Just behind the main house, the guest house with two independent suites reflects some of the same distinctive charm and design of the historical building but with a more contemporary flair. White-washed wooden floors and details in splashes of colour are recreated throughout to create a fresh, airy feel.
