ArteCareyes Annual Film Festival

Nowhere on Mexico’s Pacific coast is quite as exclusive as Careyes, a private oceanfront development custom-designed to give connoisseur jet-setters and savvy glitterati the freedom to relax amongst their own crowd far from the public eye.

Peppered with multi-million dollar homes, Careyes oozes with boho-chic and more than a little class. Besides a number of stunning homes to rent and a reputation for exuberant house parties, Careyes hosts glittering events that attract like-minded visitors, such as the annual Mexican and Latin American Film Festival.

Mexican and Latin American Film Festival
Art-loving-luxury-seekers-in-the-know head to Costa Careyes for its international film and art festival that usually takes place around mid-April each year. The festival presents a unique combination of celebrated films, including a selection from the Sundance Film Festival. You can also enjoy curated art exhibitions and parties that can be anything from outrageously glitzy to down-to-earth tree-hugging.

Mission
The first Film and Art Festival was hosted in Careyes in 2010 with the intention of showcasing Mexican talent, opening an experimental space where creative minds could come together from all over the world. With each following edition, the festival began to welcome exhibiting artists from all over Latin America. Today, the cultural festival encompasses three main disciplines: film, contemporary art and music, with the mission to promote emerging artists in all fields.

What to expect
Each year the format changes slightly though you can expect to experience some of the following:

  • Open-air film screenings
  • Concerts
  • Contemporary art exhibition in the Careyes Art Space
  • Art exhibitions in villas and the plaza
  • Charitable auctions

Invitation only
Although this exclusive annual film festival is by invitation only, Tripwix guests staying at the villas may purchase tickets and enjoy the 4-6 day event to the full. Be sure to reserve your villa and purchase tickets in advance as Careyes becomes a chic hotspot during April.
