Fireworks on the Malecon in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

So, fireworks may be a staple of most New Year’s Eve celebrations worldwide, but there’s something truly magical about watching a colourful pyrotechnic show from a luxury yacht anchored a few meters from Puerto Vallarta’s famed boardwalk Malecon. Not only does the brightly lit boardwalk look absolutely stunning from the water, but all along the length of Banderas Bay, fireworks erupt like colorful fire-fountains.

Raisins or Grapes to Go with Your Champagne

Many people are aware of the New Year’s Eve tradition of eating 12 grapes, one at each stroke of midnight. This is a popular tradition in Spain and many Latin American countries. However, did you know that in Portugal, the tradition is with raisins? Thankfully, the countries seem to agree that sparkling wine or champagne is the best accompaniment.
